main man.

My Andrew Boyfriend Husband Lover is one talented man. Seriously. What he does boggles my brain. Not only does he have to be a very knowledgeable realism artist, but a crazy technical one too. Here's his latest demo reel.

He's so awesome. He's got more stuff on his blog here.
This semester, and his Bachelor degree are wrapping up fast. Finals are this next week (he only has a couple), and the job interviews continue. This has meant many rushed meals to get him fed QUICK, a lack of date time over the last couple months, many hectic deadlines, lots of 3/6am'ers for the poor boy, and many nights going to sleep alone for me.

Something tells me post-college life will be a breeze for us.
Can't wait.

Demo Reel.

Do you want to know what my crazy talented boyfriend has been up to the last year or so? Well.. here's a quick reel of most of what he's done. Some of it looks simple, but that's only because he did so much math and coding and sneaky stuff in order for these shots to look believable.

I'm so proud of him.
PS. Stay for the credits..
(you just might be in them.)

Butchered Meats

..AKA: Andrew's year's short film.
Andrew's been getting RAVE reviews around the lab and from his professors about the phenomenal quality of hair he's been doing for their characters in their short film.
This is Paddy.. and his hair that exists because of Andrew.

Aren't those chops TASTY!?

PS. Hair is a VERY difficult part of the process, and he's put in some LONG nights for this, and I'm thinkin it's payed off. (:

Visit his blog for more goodness. >>>

Happy Thursday!

Bam Wham

So you might be aware of how crazy busy Andrew always is..
He's really good at keeping the ball rolling.

Anyway, if you ask me, the stuff he's been doing lately has my jaw on the floor.

Check it for yourself
.
PS. He's created every single dot of this character, and if you know anything about animation...
that's practically unheard of.

Andrew, you amaze me.
PS. you look more than precious sleeping cuddled up with Bird right now. (:

Boyfriend's Artwork

So... remember that one dreamy iceland-ish painting Andrew did? Well, this is the rough draft of all 4 scenes-capes. He's almost got 3 of them complete, and I can't wait to show you the final result!

Talent

For any of you who haven't had the privilege of watching Andrew paint in the computer, you're missing out! Everyone that's witnessed it is amazed at what the boy can do, and how he does it. Anyway, here's some proof. This is background artwork for a client's website, and it's going to be amazing!
Boyfriend's got talent.

I love you babe, you make me proud. (:
PS. I felt it only appropriate to share a chilly image with you on this nice autumn day full of dark skies and rain. Just lovely.

Lately

Speaking of Andrew..
These are a couple concepts he's been painting for future animations.
He has some awesome 3D work, but we don't have the programs to save & upload them to share with the world... someday, we will. And then you can be as amazed as I am.

But for now.. these paintings/sketches will have to do. (:

Internships

So, Andrew has been quite the busy bee lately (go figure right? ..he's such a hard worker!). He has been building the BYU animation program's internship website. Not only did he build the website, but he had to upload ALL of the student's portfolio's and animation reels TO the website. All of this is for the main companies, like Dream Works & Pixar, to be able to have easy & quick access to all of the student's work to see who their interested in taking for their summer internships.
Now the plan was ORIGINALLY for andrew to follow suit, but we have recently decided that it would be in our best interest to stay put for the summer. He IS technically only a sophomore/junior in the program, which would give us the FOLLOWING summer to do an internship if we so choose. Which is sounding like a MUCH better option at this point.
He has learned SOOO much, and is already a Go-To guy for SO many people in the program (even seniors have asked for help!), but we have decided that he would be able to grow leaps and bounds MORE of we stay for the spring semester to get even further ahead.

So another year, another summer dear Dream Works. You'll have more time to salivate over Andrew's potential, and can battle out with other companies of who wants to take him. :)

Cheers.

Senior Film

Speaking of my boyfriend, here's his latest 'concept painting' that he did just yesterday. Isn't it rad!? He is pitching it at school today with some other concepts for the new animation film project. The story was already presented, they just needed some visual ideas for the characters, and some of the plot. Good luck babe, I hope they pick some of your stuff. :)

Vacation..

..Okay, here it goes. Lot's of photos for you to check out. What we did was first, play a couple of days with my family (through Christmas Eve), then we went to the Youngs for Christmas day. We stayed with them and spent almost a week up in Newport! It was gorgeous and fun, and oh so relaxing. We came home for New Year's Eve, and spent the remaining 4 days with my family. It's ever changing down there. Abby's got a boyfriend, Allie is growing up FAST, and Ash is totally preggers, and you can tell now. I love our families, and I love being in San Diego.. but it's good to be in our home again.. Anyway, enjoy!

my camera takes SWEET panoramics.. I'm still learning how to line the shots up just right.

..typical. :)

The shepherds and the angel.

Andrew as all 3 wise men. He chanted and everything.

We had a great time.. and before you go, I finally got a shot of the stained glass window Andrew airbrushed (notice the characters & shrubbery) & built a year ago for his parents (with the help of Jeremy, Ash, & I). It's about 6 feet long!
Good work babe..

Have a good one.

Petalbump

Here was one of Andrew's projects at work last month. Petalbump is a book that was written by Graham Russell of Air Supply (Shmee, can you believe it!? Andrew never even TOLD me these things!! He totally visited with him at work like everyday). He and his wife Jodi developed a stage musical based on the book. The artwork that Andrew created was used for their stage performance, book cover, and CD.

Boyfriend, you created the cutest fairy I've ever seen. :)

Briefcase

Andrew could really use a briefcase one of these days. He's got papers and art all over the place! I found this one fitting.

The Blind Men..

..And The Elephant

This image is a huge painting that Andrew did in the computer this last week for a BYU film project he's working on. He was asked to be the lead animator for this short film titled "The Blind Men & The Elephant." It will be shown at the next Sundance film festival. Pretty cool. To see more work that he and the others have done you can go HERE to the film's blog (I also have a link in the left under 'we're on the interweb'). Anyway.. he's so dang good. Love this boy.

Sandman Studios

Warning.. brag moment ahead..
So before Andrew was accepted into the animation program.. he had landed an internship with a multi-media studio company known as Sandman Studios (note: Professors at BYU have tried to land this, and came up unsuccessful). They build video games, websites, films, & shots for television shows. They're located both here in Pleasant Grove, as well as their main studio that's located in Malibu, CA (they take care of most of the filming production). We heard about them from my sister in law Ashley Lisonbee, who had met one of the employee's wives and learned all about them. So we owe it to her, because after only a month of interning, they want to hire on Andrew to work for them part time while he's going through school! Perfect!! Mind you, when he called in and met with the head supervisors, they were absolutely FLOORED at the amount of knowledge Andrew has.. and called him their 'swiss-army knife' and said he was the best artist they've seen come out of BYU. Needless to say, when they asked him when he had graduated they once again could not BELIEVE that he hadn't even been accepted into the program yet (which he is now a part of)! So anyway, he's been working on some REALLY cool projects, that he can't even hardly tell me about.. some top-secret-movie stuff that the spouses can only know a LITTLE about. It's so rad, I would tell you more, but I would probably be sued a ridiculous amount of money. Ha! Anyway, just wanted to share that moment with the world and to let my sweet boyfriend know how proud I am of him!!
So check it out.. Sandmanstudios.com. :)

Week 3.. The Summation

Yes, we were there in lovely San Diego an additional week. However, we just spent the third relaxin' at my family's house while Andrew finished his animation for his portfolio. (you can view that from the link below) ..((YES it was time to RE-apply! YIKES!)) Although, don't sweat, he was able to take the pre-rec's as well as meet and really get to know the professors and program this spring/summer so we're pretty sure he's a shoe in (we should find out the results in a week or so). About 97.9% positive. So anyway, while we were home, I was able to visit with lovely friends (Kasey, Danny, Mel.. etc), babysit Boston (the cutest baby boy I know), watch husbands skateboard, and spend my last few days with my beloved fam. How perfect. Oh and PS.. we discovered (we being my family..) the greatest show ever! It's called Wipeout, and it's on at 7pm Tuesday, on ABC (well that's the time for here in Utah). We almost pee our pants of laughter, watch it ..I promise you'll LOVE it! So anyway, here are some of the works that came to pass from Andrew on our trip. The kid is so dang talented! I'm so lucky to have snatched him up! :)

..these next ones are photographed copies, so they are not nearly as neat and goodlooking as the actual copies themselves.

..and mind you these are all very quick sketches.. sometime i will have to show you some of his lengthy-extreme quality-work. ..however, i LOVE these because they're images of my favorite summer getaway. :)

Hope you found them quite enjoyable.

ANIMATION

WELL.. WE'RE CURRENTLY WAITING TO HEAR BACK FROM THE ANIMATION DEPARTMENT AT BYU TO SEE IF ANDREW GOT ACCEPTED INTO THE PROGRAM FOR THE FALL. HE'S SUCH A GIFTED ARTIST IT WOULD BE FABULOUS IF HE COULD CHANNEL THAT INTO ANIMATING. TO SEE HIS ARTWORK, AND WHATNOT YOU CAN GO TO ANDREWTEACH.COM, OR HISTORYOFKNOWLEDGE.COM. BROWSE AROUND AND YOU'LL FIND A LOT OF HIS GOOD STUFF. IT'LL BE SO WONDERFUL IF HE MAKES IT, BUT WE UNDERSTAND THAT LIFE WILL CONTINUE TO MOVE FORWARD IF HE DOESN'T.
