surf shack.

You know what? There's a little place in Montauk, NY called the Chandelier Surf Shack. It's a refuge for Chandelier Creative employees, and it is TO. DIE. FOR.

Whenever I want a little taste of inspiration/eye candy, I scroll through the images of this so called "shack."

It's a bar none favorite of mine, and if my home can resemble it in any way, shape, form, or VIBE... I'll be one happy camper. Make that a happy beach camper.

BEHOLD...

I am so in love.

Rome.

Rome. Roam.. which ever. Ideally I'd be roaming in Rome right now, so both. I just watched Eat.Pray.Love. and had a decent idea of what to expect, however what I wasn't expecting was to have 2 of my top 5 places to see sometime in my life, to be a huge part of the movie (obviously I haven't read the book, but I should). Italy, and Bali (although I'd be content with the Eastern islands/Indo in general).

So on the blog, 'Endless Summer' continues via my mood board. Lets all pretend we're sitting in that summery-tangerine round chair, sipping a cool italian soda, under the warm breeze and Tuscan sun, with a good book. You down?

Ahh.. feeling better already. (:
Cheers.

The Whale.

This is a true story. I was crying when I read it. Absolutely touching, inspiring, and beautiful in every way...

"... If you read a recent front page story of the San Francisco Chronicle, you would have read about a female humpback whale who had become entangled in a spider web of crab traps and lines. She was weighted down by hundreds of pounds of traps that caused her to struggle to stay afloat. She also had hundreds of yards of line rope wrapped around her body, her tail, her torso, a line tugging in her mouth. A fisherman spotted her just east of the Farallon Islands (outside the Golden Gate) and radioed an environmental group for help. Within a few hours, the rescue team arrived and determined that she was so bad off, the only way to save her was to dive in and untangle her. They worked for hours with curved knives and eventually freed her. When she was free, the divers say she swam in what seemed like joyous circles. She then came back to each and every diver, one at a time, and nudged them, pushed them gently around as she was thanking them. Some said it was the most incredibly beautiful experience of their lives. The guy who cut the rope out of her mouth said her eyes were following him the whole time, and he will never be the same."

I hope your weekend is full of perspective and tender mercies, and encounters with inspiring animals (my dad already has, with pelicans).
PS. LDS friends, enjoy Conference! We get to feast on the word.. what a blessing!

Fallingwater

So I've been having to pull up a TON of photos of architecture lately for a final project, and in so doing, who has better images than the notorious Frank Lloyd Wright. Who is this, you ask? None other than one of the most famous, phe-NOM-inal architects and designers of all time. A lot of people didn't like him, or didn't like working with him rather, because he was rumored to be a feisty one. But that's probably half the reason why I like him, the guy was a spitfire. I dig that. I also dig the fact that he made some CRAZY beautiful homes. He believed that no house should ever be 'on' a hill, they should be 'of' the hill. If you were to google his work, you would see that belief in a very literal sense. Do it, google Hollyhock House, Ennis Brown House, Robie House, Taliesin East, and just FLW in general. You'll probably be amazed.
Anyway, probably his most famous residential piece of all is nestled in the mountains of Pennsylvania, and originally was built for the Kaufmann family. It is called Fallingwater, and you will see why. You might possibly have even seen a picture of this place and not even realized what it was, just simply admired its beauty and the fact that it appears to defy so many 'rules' when it comes to 'building'.
Check it for yourself. (:

Famous exterior angle shot.

Steps from living room directly to the river. Amazing.

Isn't she a beaut?
Oh, do you want to live in that house too? Move it to the beach you ask?
PERFECT.

Frank Lloyd Wright is the man.
Or was rather.

Happy weekend. (:

Whirly Candleholder

I LOVE these! David Bromstad of Color Splash used them in a room once and filled them with draping green berries, and they were lovely! Check out the different examples...
I would like to buy a cluster.
PS. THEY'RE INEXPENSIVE!! (:

What a statement.

"Alohomora!"

*Read with British accent. Thanks.*

Yep. I've caught onto the trend 80 years later.. LOVING the books, and loving Halloween!
Had to dress up for work, and didn't you know? Hermione's gone blonde! ..just go with it. (;

Never mind the retarded posing, faux fat tummy from the button up shirt, and ridiculous facial expressions.. clearly, I am NOT America's Next Top Model.

My boyfriend would have made a near PERFECT Harry.. but homework keeps him indoors this Holiday. Such is our life.. maybe we'll dress up together NEXT year. (:

Happy Halloween!

Blackberry... Watch?

Yep. Apparently James Bond style convenience will be available for all mankind in February of next year. Now I'm not a blackberry nut, I'm not any kind of a cell phone nut for that matter, but I think this is pretty nifty. My dad might get a kick out of it (he's pretty obsessed with watches AND his blackberry). It'll alert you via vibrate & alerts and offer a desktop to view texts, receive calls via bluetooth (which I think 'talking to yourself' is a funny thing, but I imagine it's convenient), and whatnot while having your phone elsewhere. Crazy. Check it out..

Journal

So... my telling you that I've had the same journal since I was 15 should probably be an indicator that I don't keep up with it very well (I go in spurts like I'm sure most do). However, I think it might simply be the fact that I feel silly writing in a 15 year old's journal. Yes I am aware that to an extent this is my 'virtual' journal, but perhaps it's time to upgrade my tangible one, and one of these might just motivate me to share more with the pages...

Deep Bay

This photo had me feeling warm and fuzzy. Yes, the lack of immersing myself in large bodies of water is starting to get to me. So I found this quite refreshing.

Present

"Yesterday is history,
tomorrow is a mystery,
but today is a gift,
that is why it is called the 'present'."

-Kung Fu Panda

One of the best animated insights of all time.. I will forever look at "today" differently. (:

Fruity Notes

I use Post-Its on a DAILY basis.
I'm a list maker, it's what I do.. I feel anxious if I don't have things written out (of course, this has mostly been tossed out the window while being on this semi-vacation).
Anyway, I need some of these! They make me so happy and they're MUCH more appealing than a sticky stack of small papers. (:
Although, I'm not really sure how much can be written for a day full of activities. I guess I'll have to try 'em out! ..I'll let you know how that goes as soon as I get around to learning how to order things online in Japanese. Haha.

Tide Pools

Baja has LOTS of volcanic rock surrounding most of their cliffs. The ones by our house down there are no different. These are a couple diddys I took while down searching the little water caverns. ..One of the benefits of being able to dunk your camera in liquid. (:
I love anemones. (:

Enchanting

When Andrew and I were venturing through Encinitas, we happened upon this MAGICAL home. Mostly so because of the neatly kept (& originally designed) trees adorning either side of the front door. It was love at first sight for me, and Andrew was mezmorized as well. (:

Seahorse

You may or may not be aware that my mother has been sewing up a STORM! Like really, she's been practically unstoppable for the past 8 months (due to the first official grandbaby that's coming her way). Anyway, she's been making the most adorable 'Monsties' as we like to call them (the kid has so many.. one to match practically each outfit till he's 20 years old! ok.. maybe 18).. and I tell you this because THESE seahorses reminded me of them. I like seahorses, and I think they would make a darling selection for someone that is expecting a girl.
(Yes, Ashley. I know you do not like seahorses.)
